Introducing the Chef
It all began on a stool beside his grandmother....
Chef Billy Bowyer; MA, BCMLC, is a 5th generation culinarian and cookbook author who has a passion for helping others appreciate the benefits of fresh prepared foods. His love for food stemmed from being on the farm with his grandparents where he learned and practiced seed to fork cuisine.
Chef Billy began his career in 1988 and earned his first chefs position in 1992 after completing a formal apprenticeship program. He has worked as both an executive chef and a pastry chef. He is a graduate with honors in "Catering and Culinary" and was inducted into the National Vocational Technical Honor Society.
Chef Billy has earned numerous national awards. He was nominated for Chef of the Year and headed up the Chef and Child Foundation, which educates children and families in understanding proper nutrition, for the area ACF chapter. He developed and taught cooking classes for 2 colleges on 3 different campuses and he performed TV shows for 10 years. He released his first cookbook; "In the kitchen with Chef Billy, what a chef eats at home" in early 2018. However, he considers his greatest accomplishment to be, starting a homeless feeding program in 2002 where he provided restaurant quality prepared food to the homeless camps. The program is still active today feeding many along the Gulf Coast.
